cruise control failure!

pretty intense stuff if you ask me, what with kids and all being in the car
but i would have thought just putting it in neutral or turning the ignition off should do the trick
anyway, 3 things that i want to know
this is the second time thats happened to her? those are some might mighty high odds right there
and what was the make and model of her cars, both of them (*cough*toyota*cough*)
and what about the other poor drivers who got rammed? anyone injured etc?

Not to mention setting the cruise control at 138kph with three kids in the car!

I think they should really consider eliminating cruise control on all vehicles as a safety measure, especially here. It's hard enough to keep drivers alert and concentrating anyway without giving them the idea they can totally switch off....

The previous post was me saying, "Hands up all those who don't believe it". But, obviously, with both hands up I couldn't type...

I like the line:

Al Shehi said she used the flash lights and unleashed her car honk to alert the other drivers,” she said.

Actually could have been a candidate for the Darwin award there. Feel sorry for the poor maid though.

And in every single case that I have read about the driver is ALWAYS Emirati.

Billy bullshit methinks!

Also if it had happened before why did she not just do as her brother had previously instructed - take it out of gear and use the handbrake?

Saying that, maybe there's a Bermuda Triangle type thing going on along the E311?

Not true..I know of a guy back home who had a CC that stuck on. He applied the brakes and although it did slow, the CC was still engaged and "driving" the engine management system, so basically when he slowed down, the Engine management automatically fought this and tried to speed up.. Fortunately, this guy wasn't a local UAE retard and when he sussed out what was happening he put the car into Neutral. Granted it was a manual so he mechanically isolated the engine from the drivetrain...don't know enough about modern automatic cars, but I'd hazard a guess that even with these modern auto gearboxes putting into neutral MECHANICALLY disengages the engine and drivetrain, or does it do this through a fancy electronic control system??

Re: cruise control failure!

Can you put an automatic car into neutral whilst it's moving? Not saying you can't, I'm just curious if there's a reason why the gearbox might not let you.

Steady on, that's a tribal name. I would guess the "family" connection is about as relevant as it is between Chris Brown and Gordon Brown....
