Default A cool alternative to yet another powerpoint....

Thought I'd share a work-tool that I've been trying out - it's really quite good and more dynamic than dusty old powerpoint:

http://prezi.com/

Boring topic, I know, but has anyone tried using tag-clouds for work? I'm dubious about their usefulness - they look too muddled and confused to me, but open to the idea that they work for some people????

Will check that out.

I've been trying out mindmapping and finding it really pretty useful.

Yeah - I use that one a lot, too!! It's a really handy tool, and very quick to use too. Have you read Buzan's book - it gives a lot of good ideas for different styles of mind-mapping depending on what it is you're trying to solve...

No - it all looked a bit marketing hard sell and, well, American and shouty...

May give it a try if you recommend it.

I'm trying to work up a script idea and it's so useful to spark off ideas and follow threads to conclusion...

Ah - if you're using it creatively like that then the book may not help - more directed to business/technical thinking....

Not related to script writing but Stephen Fry's "The Ode Less Travelled" is a wonderful guide to writing poetry - he's terribly pragmatic about balancing knowledge of the structural forms and rhythms of writing with musings and the creative urge. And being Stephen Fry, it's achingly funny...
