1. Does sound play through the systems speakers when using other applications or playing a dvd?
2. Have you been using headphones for Skype, WebEx etc? I've found that this can change the sound settings. Maybe 'pop' into Control Panels and into Sounds (I'm assuming that you're using Windows (of some version).
