Jeremy Clarkson exits Top Gear: Who's in pole position to replace him?

Woot Woot..I'm glad. I found his narration style awkward and stilted to listen to. James May is much funnier and interesting.

Steve Coogan/Alan Partridge would be a good replacement..anybody but Piers 'namedropper' Morgan please.

James May

As much as I think he's a knob, I quite like working with Jeremy

There's a bloody big difference between not renewing someone's contract and sacking them.

Sure there is but the Media know "will not renew contract" is too bland , while "sacking" will make people pay attention.

Alhamdullillah

I'm glad he's gone. Lets not forget Clarkson called the producer a "lazy Irish ****" before punching him.

They did give him quite a few chances. Either he thought he was too big to fail and so could carry on being himself or impulse got the better of him (happens to all of us).

Didn't he sell his half of the production company that made Top Gear to the BBC for something like 14million?

Fifth Gear is very, very dull, but I do like hearing how much better it is because it reminds me of being at school and people comparing the two.

James May is brilliant, some of his other shows have been really good to watch.

Alan Partridge is a great idea but would turn a lot of people off. Maybe they need to do guest hosts, starting with him.

If the lazy Irish **** had done his job properly, he wouldn't have needed to be punched.

I'd be surprised if he goes to Sky. The likes of Jeremy Darroch and Stuart Murphy are rather, what some of your would call, PC and not keen on perceived racist insults or punching staff.

More likely to be talking to the likes of Netflix I reckon.

I could be wrong but I think the BBC requires a certain ratio of skirts to trousers in presenting lineups now so it's likely whoever they draft in will not be one of 'the boys'. Also it looks like James May and Andy Wilman aren't that keen, Richard Hammond hasn't said much one way or the other. Coming to Netflix soon: Final Gear/Last Gear/Last of the Summer Wheels.

They'll have to go back to the drawing board. In my view there is no well know or obvious choices really but there is probably someone undiscovered out there who could make Top Gear work. Will the BBC fumble it and end up killing the show as they did old Top Gear?

"A certain ratio of skirts".

As ever your username is ironic.
