Clarkson; highest paid BBC entertainer.
Not surprising at all considering how popular Top gear is around the world.

Clarkson’s total pay amounted to approximately £3.5million.
It also pointed out that the bulk of Clarkson’s income comes from the commercial exploitation of Top Gear, by selling the show around the world and producing spin-off products and live shows.
Clarkson received a dividend from these activities, last year believed to be around £2.7million, as well as a fee of £350,000.

Re: Clarkson; highest paid BBC entertainer.
I have always said that my dream job would be a presenter on Top Gear!
Dont fancy the trip across Vietnam though on a motorbike worth a tenner wearing a Colander as a crash helmet!
Clarkson is brilliant and i think he, James May & Hamster make a great team!
Who was on it before? Was it Tiff Needell & Quentin Wilson before Hammond & May?

His off show sardonic comments are hit-n-miss, sometimes it makes him seem like someone who is trying too hard to get a reaction.

When Tiff was on was my favourite years. Back in the 90s, Top gear was still fresh (to me), now it just seems a bit forced and Clarkson's witticism seems played out. Probably true of most anything after awhile.

One of his books (collection of columns) is about 'great machines' or something. Dominated with patriotic "it might not be as technically wonderful as a German thing, or quite as pretty as an Italian thing, but it's got intangible assets that make it miles better" sort of stuff.

I must admit to having read most of his books, very funny and overall very good reading!

I am a big fan of his books and used to love Top Gear. Now it is a bit too predictable for my liking........
I see the headline grabbing £3m a year is false and its all from merchandising and selling the show he made.....

One of the things I love is his love for British engineering feats.
