Christmas Presents

Re: Christmas Presents
The OH and I don't give each other Christmas presents anymore.
We get flights to England and a hire car instead.
I get something cheapish for the kids to give to Daddy. He usually forgets to get something cheapish for the kids to give to Mummy.
Mum always gets me a chocolate orange, a British calendar and some other knick knacks and my sisters always give me a small but usually thoughtful present.

Re: Christmas Presents
What do you want for Christmas if money was no object?
3 pairs of Louboutins
What do you want for Christmas if you were being sensible?
2 pairs of Louboutins
What do you think you'll get?
A pair of Louboutins
Are you even bothered anymore given that most of you have seen 50+ Christmas Days already?

Oh, and I usually go to our local up-market supermarket (Booths) and fill it a wicker basket with goodies for my mum.

Re: Christmas Presents
Last few years my Mum / Gran etc have gone down this route. Makes much more sense. Definitely best to ask for something you need or want that you can't / won't buy yourself.

Re: Christmas Presents
Glad its not only me. My "early Christmas present" was a pukka exercise station for the boys and me (in the garage at home), and a £500 course on documentary credits. Bahtatgirl had something relatively expensive mid-year (can't remember what) which was put down as a Christmas present. Kids get either a certain amount of money or something of equivalent value that they particularly want. I do buy odds n sods, but I've virtually given up on buying handbags or jewellery coz apparently my taste ain't good. I usually take the family around York Outlet after Christmas and let them splurge a bit. May sound un-Christmassy, but I work hard for my money so don't want to see it wasted on stuff my family don't want.

1. a beautiful house in a beautiful place
2. Some clothes
3. Some clothes
I'm ok with not having a real present. We are seriously saving to get out of here to set up shop somewhere better.

Re: Christmas Presents
I've got one which is alternate rubies and diamonds (my choice) which I love and was bought for me to celebrate my son surviving his awful arrival and first year. Smaller rubies are cheaper than diamonds so it meant that it looks more expensive than it is as there was more money in the pot for the diamonds. You could do the same with any coloured stone.
