What about the Calabar at the Address Hotel Downtown? They do a happy hour from 6 til 8... half price on everything, bottles of bubbly/wine etc and you can order loads of drinks before 8pm to carry you through the evening. Lovely terrace, and they also do little eaty things.

don't be so judgemental darling... why would you say a bar in a hotel was "poncy" when you have never been there? Poncy is relative darling, just because a bar is nice with a chilled atmosphere, over looking the fountains and with stunning views of the Burj Khalifa
