Re: Christmas
Dunno about other Scots on here, but for my family Hogmanay was always the big deal in December....
We'd do the presents and Turkey, but the big party was the following week

Not too fussed, it's nice to be with family and friends for the shitmas dinner, but it's gotten blown out of all proportion.
People racking up credit cards bills on daft presents is beyond me.
We didn't even bother checking the prices for hotel restaurants this year, far more satisfaction to be gotten from arguing over how to baste the turkey.

Re: Christmas
I have to make some attempt to appear excited as I have three children, but really it's just another day of the year. I really like being away from extended family and just having a quiet one with my own. My husbands aunt's flying in from the Uk, but that's more to see my girls perform in the panto than the fact that it's christmas. I haven't even been Christmas shopping yet - I usually just get a few stocking stuffers and my husband goes out Christmas eve and finds them all their main present. I was brought up in a catholic family and my kids went to religious schools before coming here, so really it's always been about the true meaning of Christmas, rather than the commercial gift giving stuff. I do love carols by candlelight, I think they have it here somewhere, anyone know?

Re: Christmas
The worst thing about Christmas is that you are expected to see your relatives.......
