Children growing up in Muscat

I have 3 children aged 5,7 and 9. They are standard stuff and enjoy riding bikes, playing football and running round like nutters with their friends. Pastimes are swimming, cubs, and all the good stuff available to children in the UK. Can anyone tell me how their children have adjusted to life in Muscat , what sports facilities for children are like and what after school clubs are available ?

Re: Children growing up in Muscat

My children grew up here and are 8 & 7 yrs old. All the stuff you mention is fine and do-able.... but from now until end October it becomes too hot to do stuff outdoors.
Most houses don't have much of a garden, and older kids are not allowed to ride bikes in the public parks (although football is allowed).
My boys do rugby but the season finishes in two weeks time until September and even then it is still too hot.
Swimming is great, sea is great, but also plenty of hotel memberships available.
Cubs, Beavers, Scouts, Rainbows all available but all suffer from lack of parents willing to volunteer and help. All those bored mums are too busy, go figure.
The sports facilities are normally connected to hotels, or to large companies (the biggest being PDO membership). There aren't really public/government sports facilities.
