Anyone seen this appalling story

When Saudi Arabia announced three months ago that girls as young as 10-years old would now be allowed to marry, Iran decided to drop the age limit even further

Well as its written in sharia law it must be OK, wasn't their prophet married to an 8 year old? Surely that is pedophilia.

Re: Child marriage in Iran & KSA
Baroness Jenny Tonge, chair of a British parliamentary inquiry looking at the issue of child brides, tells the Women's News Network, "We decided to look into child marriage because some two, three years ago we did an investigation into maternal mortality." "We realised that one of the major causes of maternal death is early marriage, and (that) the girls are married so young that their bodies are simply not ready for child birth." She tells the story of one young girl, "she was an eight-year-old who was married to a 45 to 50-year-old in Yemen, arranged by his family – died three days later after the first intercourse from bleeding. When you hear the stories, it just makes you feel quite sick."

Iran, Saudi Arabia and the idea of civilisation are mutually exclusive concepts.

That's no reason not to put pressure on them, or to condemn their behaviour. They need to be dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century, for the sake of the young people at least.

They are half a millenia behind the rest of the world, and seem quite proud of the fact. I can't really see them changing their out look any century soon, sadly.

We could bomb the bastards back to the Stone Age, but they're already there.

Re: Child marriage in Iran & KSA
With that in mind Saudi and Iran are actually being proper Muslims in this regard. A lot of Muslim terrorists are simply emulating their founder by waging war on infidels. Islam spread for centuries by war and little else.
Unless they are willing to completely disregard huge and fundamental parts of their believe little will change. No other religion tells people they may lie to non-believers to defend their faith. No other religion demands the death penalty for leaving as far as I can tell either.
And people wonder why I go on about it...
