On reclining: it is not acceptable to jab my mrs in the head with your fingers and demand it be put upright because there isn't enough room...for your 5/6 year old...not even when eating...

" However, a survey by the Skyscanner website last year revealed 80 per cent of UK passengers were against the idea of losing space to accommodate overweight travellers. "

Unless the price (for normal seats) was slashed by a considerable amount , which it won't be, the normal seat passengers are effectively sacrificing for the wide passengers and the airlines' increased bottom line.

Slashed?

If a seat is 25 inches wide and you lose 1 inch then surely a 25th discount is fair?

Haven't they been getting bigger for years anyway?

Yup! No shit Sherlock - it's called Club class. If you are so exceptionally large, you've got to pay a premium!

" The larger seats will be 20 inches across instead of 18 inches – the standard width "

Never paid attention to an Airlines's exact seat width, just know it is already cramped.

Oh yeah, I'd love a bit more room, but if I understand correctly:

Current seat, let's say is 20inches wide.
In the set of three, they're saying they will be 19 / 22 / 19 - or thereabouts?

Whilst other parts of the row will remain 20/20/20 etc.

To me, this means if a ticket costs 100 quid then in the three seats that have changed it should be:

95 quid / 110 quid / 95 quid. Still equals 300 and everyone pays their far share....

We still haven't sorted out the check-in issue..........

Separate queues for 'slim', 'medium' and 'fat' people............ fantastic!

"Oi! Fatso! You're in the wrong queue!"

The article says current industry standard is 18 " , so the new plan would make window & center seat 17 " and aise would be 20 ".

OK but the idea is the same.

I'm sure we all know the airlines probably won't flog the seats cheaper though eh.
