Default Car impounding

Mrs Millhouse has just received a text to say that she ran a light and the car will be impounded. 30 days or 3000dh. No way she will pay the release fee so impounding it is.

Does anyone have any experience of this? Can we impound at home now? Is there a charge for home impounding vs. the yard?

We have been told to report to the traffic station in 30days. Is this any police station, or is it the RTA building in Barsha?

Cheers, Millhouse

No idea about the home impounding stuff, but a mate of mine took his to Barsha RTA. They stuck it in the car pound near Al Awir.

Thank you. Poor car is going to be ragged on return.

Just got back from the RTA.

Managed to agree to a 50pct discount and no impounding for early settlement.

Love Dubai.

Awesome. I was going to say think again about not buying out the impound as I've heard a lot about folk getting there cars back after the impound period and finding them very bruised and battered.

Mrs had one of these but was only 15 days so 1500. Just paid to avoid impounding...I know you only hear the bad news but the stories about them being bumped or having more fines whilst impounded were just too common.

Good choice and amazing negotiations

My mate found an alternate pound in Abu Dhabi (he lives there) and effectively booked his car in just before his summer vacation.. They didnt offer a service of delivering it to the airport on his return... but burnt his 30 days when he wasnt here

Yup. She went into negotiations with the senior police officer while wearing a baby forward-facing in a papoose. She's good at this sort of thing.

The RTA / Police don't need any more cars in their impound yards at present..... they are rammed full so they make more money by getting ready cash (even through discounts) as opposed to the hassle of 'storing' them for you.

Mine got taken to the pound, and it was returned with a heap more mileage and the engine management error lights on.
