Cab Drivers right....
 

.....I got cab from Mirdif this morning, the guy didn't know where Jumeirah was as he was new,

I mean I know you have to start somewhere, but surely they should be given some basic training of where places are?

Even in other times when they have no idea they have to ring up and they never have maps or anything, I know in the UK they have A-Z maps and Dubai changes a lot, quickly,

but christ, surely they can find out where places are before they start cabbing?

My parents got in a cab that didn't know how to get to JBR...

They also seem to have a real problem with finding the main entrance to Medcare hospital... my last cabby apparently drove around for 10 minutes looking for me whilst never once thinking to *follow the signs to the main entrance"

Do London taxi drivers still have to do 'the knowledge'?

I know it used to be a big thing when I was a lad, it always amazed me that these people pretty much knew London inside out which is incredible bearing in mind the size of it.

I dont mind if they dont know Dubai very well, but its when they argue with you about the best way to and from work! Right gets on my nerves when you have to spend 5 minutes on a Sunday morning getting your point across! Erm it takes longer than your route and costs me more, so on yer bike son...

Yep they still have to know the "Knowledge", its very impressive that they know all these crazy back routes...
