Default Buying a Nissan Patrol

Does anyone here drive one? Do you like it?

It's really grown on me and now I want one. V8 400 hp version. Ideally the top spec LE so it has the top stereo, surround cameras, leather seats etc

The second hand prices seem so high though. I can buy a brand new Pajero for the same price as a 5 year old Patrol. So I'm in two minds. My heart says go for the Patrol (because if I head home in a year or two I'm never again going to have the chance to buy such a ludicrously big car). My head says get the Pajero (I have one now and love smashing it across the dunes)

Yes - That's very true. A concern...

If I could find one owned by a westerner I'd be happy

SWB, 2014, (Y61 model), 4.8.

You'll never lose money on it - great for the desert too. The new ones are way too heavy and sink.

Surely the fun now is in electric vehicles. Anyone else like the look of the Nio ES8?

Just buy a new one.

If you leave in two years you'll not have lost much money on it at all because the resale on them is a joke.

Just out of interest. Does anyone have the new Patrol Super Safari? I’ve been trying to negotiate on a 5 door one without the winch and they won’t budge off full asking price of 190k ish.

When I bought my Land Cruiser, they barely budged on the asking price as "we sell more than we can order, so why would we discount"?? I'm guessing its a similar situation at Nissan.

Order 5. That will get you a discount, then sell 4 at new book price, easy to do if they have zero km and are immediately available.

HSBC text me every few days telling me I'm pre-approved for an easy 404,000 loan.

It's very specific so it must be true and we all know you have to speculate to accumulate. Halfsies on 5 Patrols?

They're massive! One our PM's got one a few months back and drove me up to RAK. You could fit another seat in between driver and passenger pretty much. Not sure but I doubt they'd be much cop offroad anymore as they seem to be more road orientated. My mate had one of the old 4.8 SWB manual ones and used to get stopped by locals daily asking if he would sell it. Drove it myself in the dunes and didn't get the hype. My old Jeep pissed all over it. I think it's more to do with what you can do to them tuning wise rather than their ability in their natural untuned format.
