4 years is standard. They will stay in until Ramadan 2014 then get a pardon and deported. (least that's how it worked in AD) Silly boys.

So they must be guilty.

The UAE police (as a whole) let white English get away with things, they don't understand why we diluted our gene pool by giving non-arians (if you will), British passports.

This was top story on most news bulletins while I was in the UK on Fri and Sat. Sky News wheeled in every rent-a-quote merchant from Reprieve, Amnesty and the Scunthorpe Womens' Institute............

As you say, all a bit awkward in terms of timing of official UAE state visit.
