Default British designed £ 3 billion yacht for Malaysian businessman?

Has the DailyMail ,Mirror and Sun been had, is this story legit? A £ 3 billion yacht sounds rather far fetched for any country let alone Malaysia which while no doubt has its share of supr wealthy, still not on the same level as Saudi.

Talk about splashing out – an anonymous Malaysian businessman has spent £3billion on a yacht made from solid gold and platinum.

The History Supreme was assembled using a staggering 100,000kg of the precious metals.

The hefty price tag is also the result of an amazingly luxurious master bedroom. It’s adorned with platinum and has a wall feature made from meteoric stone and a genuine T-Rex dinosaur bone.

Heres a 1.5 million dollar Russian SUV with whale penis leather interior. It should fit quite well in Dubai.

base of the vessel – which is wrapped in solid gold
So how long before some enterprising theives attach an electrode under it and start a gold plating operation?

not that it matters much as if you have 3bn you can buy some sharks with frikkin laser beams to protect it

Obviously bollocks. Its not April 1st and I've missed it, is it?

Average current price of 1kg of gold and platinum is 33,500, multiply that by 100,000 and you get just over GBP 3 billion. You can't build a yacht out of gold and platinum, you can only furnish it with them, so you've got to add the price of the yacht. And "a yacht made out of solid gold"? That'll float, then.

Using cement for boat hulls is not a common yacht building technique - but it has been used very sucessfully in the past - Ferrocement.

and a little cheaper than gold at 1,500 US$ and ounce!

It was. My point was about "solid" gold, but I guess there's no essential difference between a hull made from "solid" steel or "solid" gold if "solid" is taken to mean "not having substantial voids" rather than the hull not having a void in the middle.

Steel balloon: I suppose if the steel is thin enough and the ballon big enough it'd work.

I didn't fail physics, but I was pretty crap at it.

ahhhh.

This was one of the giveaway points to it being fake as well, gold plated I could understand but gold on that scale is not only expensive but not good for structure as its very soft
