British Banker Charles Ridley Arrested In Dubai Probe -Police
Ridley is something of an eccentric..... a while back, he celebrated his wife's birthday, or their anniversary or something, by paying for some of the world's best rugby players (past and present) to fly to Kenya just for a game of beach rugby.......

DUBAI (Zawya Dow Jones)--British banker Charles Ridley is being held by Dubai Police as part of a bribery investigation involving a former Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB.AI) vice president, an official said Thursday.
Ridley has been detained as part of a probe, which has seen former DIB vice president Rifat Al Islam Usmani being detained, a police official, who declined to be identified, told Zawya Dow Jones.
More than four people are being held in connection with the investigation so far, according to the police official.

We heard about his detention several days ago but no reason had been given. It was assumed it may have been another "cannabis on shoe" job, but obviously more sinister than that. Mind you, bribing officials in developing countries like the UAE is pretty common, surely? How else are major contracts secured?
