Brit teacher charged with being alone with a man

British woman is charged with drinking alcohol without a licence and being alone in the company of a man other than her husband or close relative.

Just shows how an innocent lunch date in this country can go wrong so quickly.

7days

That's actually a crime over here? Being alone with a man who isn't your husband?

I thought it was like living with others, illegal but never enforced.

Aye this place can be brilliant, have loads of fun, get pissed and live it up in the sun with nice new shiny things - but once you cross the police, and I should know, it can be a bloody nightmare.

Why would sharia law be different in different countries?

Go away and think about that, then come back with a simple answer.

Different interpretations of a book of fairy tales written by an illiterate ********** nearly 1500 years ago?

I don't know the details of Sharia but never heard of any Muslim country other than Saudi who has a law against unaccompanied women fraternizing with non closely related males. In my years in Abu Dhabi, never heard/seen any women arrested for going out unaccompanied with an unrelated male .

Upon hearing that there was a woman in the house when police arrived, the Syrian man’s wife, who is the legal owner of the home, pressed charges against the British woman for entering her property without permission.

So ... he kicked the wife out ..who was the legal owner of the home ...and she is the one who pressed charges against the British woman. Kind of makes sense that it was just a revenge case then. Poor love :(

Also if she was the legal owner ie not tenant, I'd put money on that she's emirati.
