Brit in Saudi, can I drive into UAE ok?

Hi there, if I live in Riyadh, have iqama, car, estimara, driving licence, can I just arrive at the border of UAE for a weekend visit?
Thanks Peter

You certainly can when going into Bahrain / Qatar, so wouldn't expect it to be different .And don't forget your exit / re-entry visa.

Insurance for UAE...you may need to extend cover.

This may be doable at border.

Would be interested to hear about your experience

Hi, we did this a couple of years ago. Loooooooooooooooooooooong drive, but not busy traffic wise. Easy to cross the border, took us about an hour in all - including getting the insurance.

On the way back we were asked if we had guns, alcohol or drugs. Totaly disinterested in the large cool box of pork in the back. (they know why we all take them . . . )

You need to time the drive so you aren't driving in the dark at certain parts as there are no camel fences along some of the route and they like to lie in the middle of the road at night . . .

Cheers
