I don't think you have to be an atheist to be disgusted by what some people do in the name of religion....but I agree that atheists are equally ridiculous!

Religion is a convenient smokescreen/excuse for tribalism and patriarchy. The case of the Pashtun girl is tribalism/patriarchy; the Taleban males are scared that if women get freedom and can think for themselves, they might resist being treated as nothing but property and breeders.

Islam is a about the most powerfull force out there for males of a tribe/ethnic group to keep their women cloistered and safe from the attention of males from competing tribes. It's just animal mentality, no different to an Alpha Male Lion doing what it needs to do to prevent other males from breeding with its females.

On the whole, I think I prefer the Alpha Male lions...:)

Alpha male lions over Taleban?
or you approve of human males emulating the Male lion's behaviour? If the latter, how many Niqabs,Burqas do you intend to buy:D

Meanwhile in the land of buxom gorgeous blondes ...

Take a stand -- and sit down for what you believe in.

Male representatives on the Sormland County Council in Sweden should sit rather than stand while urinating in office restrooms, according to a motion advanced by the local Left Party.

Known as a socialist and feminist organization, the party claims that seated urination is more hygienic for men -- the practice decreases the likelihood of puddles and other unwanted residue forming in the stall -- in addition to being better for a man's health by more effectively emptying one's bladder, The Local reported.

But not everyone agrees.

"Men scatter urine not so much during the actual urination as during the 'shaking off' that follows," John Gamel, a professor at the University of Louisville, wrote while addressing the issue in 2009. "As a result, forcing men to sit while emptying their bladders will serve little purpose, since no man wants to shake himself off while remaining seated on the toilet."

A representative from the party said he hopes to move toward sitting only bathrooms.

New atheists, a fundamentalist group of atheists that are as despicable as any religious nutter I've ever come across. They profess reason, yet they propagate an agenda of hatred and lies. Not very reasonable per say. Something happened around 2003-2004 when it left the internet and started being published. Perhaps it came from Thuderf00t's youtube videos or something.

Your average atheist tends to have personal beliefs they keep quiet unless quizzed. I find nothing ridiculous about them.

On a serious note, squatting whilst pooping is meant to decrease the likelihood of colon cancer. MIT have made a device which emulates the squatting position whilst sat on a toilet. Out of curiosity, I googled colon cancer occurrences around the world. My hypothesis was based on an assumption that india has the highest amount of people who squat when pooping. Though my search results might be flawed, India has troubles recording all cases due to a poor health service, but on average, the occurrence of colon cancer in india is low. So I wouldn't laugh at this rather ridiculous proposition at all.

Ah right. Never heard of this group of lunatics...

That's exactly what I find ridiculous mate, most people who call themselves atheists are actually anything but, they have just made a conscious decision not to sign up to any of the mainstream religions...being unreligious does not equal atheism!

What about the head wiggle? They do that a lot too. Could that be lowering the risk of colon cancer? :p

So does your average sub saharan african. But they have a higher toilet per capita rate than india as far as I know. Not sure on colon cancer rates though.

Serious note... life expectancy about 12 years less in India, colon cancer generally occurs later in life. I do not discount the head wiggle theory, I doubt many studies have been done.
