Re: boiling water
You just need to be careful with the sodium and TDS levels, as long term if these are too high it can cause kidney stones.
But then some bottled water here has horrendously high sodium levels and should be avoided.

yeah, remember the "Dessani" (sp?) thing from a few years back? The Coca Cola group decided to do its own bottled water... but then was caught using mains water from Sidcup to fill its bottles.
Anyhow, I have to admit I use bottled water in the kettle and also for cooking my daughter's meals... didn't do it at first, but after a couple of times of the tap-water running yellow, I thought maybe I'd like to.

Boiling water - any water - will kill the bacteria in it...............
........... but this merely means that you will be drinking dead bacteria rather than live bacteria.
Only truly safe thing to do? Boil the water, and collect the steam (not easy, I know). That is the pure stuff, which has separated itself from the bacterial graveyard left in the kettle.
Making tea with steam? Er.............. as you were............

Re: boiling water
it is tap water, but has been used as a coolant in dubal (the aluminium plant) before bottling. That said I have it on good authority that its the most tested and safe water in town partly due to the temps it has reached whilst used as a coolant
