For Bluecat - Orchidae
BC
(Apologies to everone else for the pic overload)
Just a small selection, wouldn't want to bore everyone. These are various examples of what the missus grows, some are quite fragrant as well - coconut, orange, vanilla, lemon etc. Big problem I have to try and not kill any of them until she gets here!
Psychopsis kalihii (Butterfly Orchid)
Cattleya Hawaiian Wedding Song
Paphiopedilum tranlinianum
Ascocenda Princess Mikasa
Coelogyne cristata
Coelogyne Mini Purple
Lycaste aromatica
Maxillaria tenufolio
Paphiopedilum Chou Yu-Yuki
Paphiopedilum concolor

She has also started to collect Nepenthes (the pitcher plants). Personally I think it has gone past being a hobby, and is more of an obsession - like those people who collect porcelain cats etc.

She just grows them as a hobby. Occasionally she can split them and take cuttings etc, and is thinking of propagating them. Some of them are very difficult to grow, nevermind flower - so she sees it as a challenge. It keeps her out of trouble anyway.

I suppose to go to the extent of getting them shipped over it would seem to be more of an obsessesion. I adore flowers but my cats always eat them! same with house plants. I caught the real Blue Cat peeing in one the other day. I adore lilies though and have a huge vase of them adorning the cabinet as we speak!!

Great photos...used to come across many in the jungles of Papua New Guinea but never collected any.
How about insects that mimic orchids, such as the orchid mantis (Hymenopus coronatus) from Malaysia...

Wow, the flowers are stunning - very beautiful, and that mantis is amazing - really cool pics. I love gardening but find most things die on me out here. The onlything I miss from UK is my garden.

I am missing pottering around in the garden as well but will not be going back until September to see what state it is in.
Thanks for the great pics, they reminded me of when I visited Singapore botanic gardens.

Wow! Fabulous pics! so very beautiful. I love Orchids, but would not know where to start growing them.
I went to a Leper village in KL, the people there were growing and selling Orchids, there were hundreds of Orchids in all shapes, colours and sizes. Amazing!
I think it is wonderful what your wife is doing, it must be difficult to do this here.
