Default Bison - you could be of use here.....

....I'm sorting out landlords insurance for my downstairs flat back home that we own, but I need to work out how much to insure it for it by chance something happened and we had to rebuild it,

it's a downstairs flat, there's one above and it was built in 1902 (!),

How do I work out how much cover I need? Also some say I need to cover the expesnse of the flat upstairs as well,

Oh and I have all the square footage of the place as well, although at home,

any ideas big fella?

Normally two thirds of the total value of the property, make sure you include any outbuildings, walls etc.

Always good to check with your insurer to. Try Endsleigh insurance www.endsleigh.co.uk they have really good policies for landlords and home owners.

ok mate, you sure about that? Our gaff is worth £150k, and the one above is bigger, so if I cover it for £500k that should be plenty for both flats eh?

Works out at £56 a month, with £25k contents insurance as well. Sound canny?

You don't have to insure the one above. That would be covered by the Liability section of your policy. Cover it for 150K only.
