Bird Trouble
 
Evening,

Just got home and found a bird on the balcony. It flaps around a bit and just stares out the glass instead of flying up and over.

Logic to me is that it may be injured? Nothing obvious or noticeable but don't want to pick it up and chuck over the other side in case, well, it plummets.

It's too small to be worth eating but looks like a small pigeon in appearance, but it's not.

Before I just start googling, does anyone know of an RSPCA / RSPB type organisation here who may help if it's injured?

Freeze it and take it to the coop for a refund.

Very funny. But it's putting me off my smoking and it might need help and I'm only offering it water at the moment.

Leave it be and let it rest, nature will take its course. Giving it water is as much as you can do.

Take it to the Vet , they will know about Humane society orgs.

Sounds like it may be a dove . Do people thereabouts keep doves?

sometimes they just get confused by the glass and keep flying into it. this tires them. just lift it up above the glass and it should fly off

So, it had definitely been there a while as it had had 5 shits, politely in one corner.

Put the water out, it was terrified of me but still couldn't see any injuries.

Rang the Mrs. She told me to leave it alone and wait until she was home.

Waited.

30-40mins later, before she got back the bird took off and flew straight into the window next to the balcony.

So did it live?

I once saw a bird fly straight into the panoramic window in the living room. I went out and saw it on the ground ; gently picked it up and saw blood come out of its nostrils. Several seconds later it died.

No idea. I've misplaced my specs so even if I leaned over the balcony to see if it had plummeted I wouldn't have seen.....
