I think the marriage went downhill from this moment..
Their son Kiel was born in 1987 and a year later the couple married in Petty’s home town of Titusville, Florida, before moving to Britain and settling in Slough, Berkshire.

What's interesting is in several test cases where people are living like this consensually (which is probably around .0001% of all bigamy cases hehe) the judges have ruled in favour of recognising additional spouses.
