Best Way of Keeping In Touch?

Really, the only things I'll desparately want to take with me, are my laptop, phone charger ( guess Nokia phone chargers are easy to get hold of anyway ) and my iPod dock speakers.

Going to Riyadh, KSA, for which I understand, I'll need some sort of transformer ( no, not the cars that turn into robots... ) for my electrical stuff.

Sounds wierd, they have both 127 and 220 both at 60Hz..... Stuff like laptops & phone chargers should give you no problems - they contain switch mode power supplies that have feed-back regulators built in and will work on either voltage & frequency....
Stuff with motors will run a bit faster on 60Hz than 50Hz, but usually not enough to worry about... Stuff with heaters like hairdryers and toasters will fry if you run a 110V model on 240V...
Some devices (like desktop pcs) have a flip switch at the back to switch between 110V and 240V....

cheers shakh, just had a quick read of that article, might still invest in a transformer thing to be safe ( if I've read it right )
