I consider myself very lucky. I was born in Northumberland and now live in North Yorkshire.

The North-East has some wonderful things to commend it.
It also has Middlesbrough.
The big thing in 'Europe' these days is twinning - Middlesbrough isn't twinned with anywhere.......... but it does have a suicide pact with Luton........

I've been to both Luton and Middlesbrough town centres. I was much more fearful for my safety in the former. No denying Boro is grim, though...

Re: Best Destination in Europe
I live in Middlesbrough, I know they are a few bad estates but we have good things going for us too, a lot more than Redcar, Hartlepool, Stockton, Darlington, Billingham.
The transporter bridge is great an icon of the town with only two left in the world.
Captain Cooks birth place.
Stewarts park.
Dormans museum.
Good shopping
James cook university Hospital is amazing.
I live in Ormesby village, its at the foot of the cleveland Hills and wake up to a wonderful view of roseberry topping everyday.
Some delightful villages Great Broughton, Stokesly, Bilsdale.
But I was born in Morpeth, and have family in Widderington so Northumberland will always be top of my list.
