Just been watching The Lovely Bones which is a very moving and sad story, its a beautiful adaptation of the book and have had a few tears plopping down my cheeks, however the book had me wailing, so, soo sad and beautifully written.

So what do you think are the best and worst book to film adaptations? And is the book always better than the film?

Lord of the rings is up there for me- could never get past page 10 of the book,
Memoirs of a Geisha is a stunning film but again the book pips it for me.
The Devil wears Prada is better in book format although I did enjoy the film. Silence of the Lambs was a better film I thought.

In that vein V For Vendetta was great - what did you think of Watchmen & Scott Pilgrim?

Kick Ass was totally brilliant.

PS Still not sure why Neil Gaimen's Sandman has never been a franchise - it would be the first true modern era comic franchise.

Rum Diary? Excellent ... I liked Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas as a book and a movie, extra points for making the unfilmable filmable ...

A bad one ... Undoubtably the movie Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy ... the TV show is, of course, a classic.
