A couple of days there coming up, in Brussels. Any recommendations for wine, women and song? Well, wine, food and song, actually...

Belgium, on the whole is fantastically dull.

Never been to Brussels though, maybe it bucks the trend.

It's been ages since I was in Brussels but from what I remember:

Grand marketplace/square in centre. Nice atmosphere. Lots of cafes. They're probably all of equal quality. I have heard a few times that the food in Brussels is excellent and better (on the whole) than Paris because of the EU bureaucrats and their expense accounts.

Here's a list to get you started:
9 Places To Eat And Drink Incredibly Well in Brussels, Belgium | Food Republic

Good Belgian beer, of course.

Lots of chocolate shops.

Frites are excellent. Serve 'em with mayo. If you've never had it that way, it's odd at first but warms up on you quickly. Frites shops are all over the place.

Bruges is only a hour away by train. Worth a few hours if you can manage it.

Belgium of course is a modern invention. The place is simply the bit of the Low Countries that was occupied by Spain for centuries. The Spanish Netherlands. Slowly disentangling and set to become Wallonia and Flanders with Brussels neither the one nor the other.

And your point is, Mr I only ever post with an agenda no matter how irrelevant it is to the thread in question?

Curry sauce?

Jesus wept mate. I'd have let gravy slide, but curry sauce? You're a monster.
