We are currently in Doha for a few days and the hotel the company have put us in is dry(the Amari in Musheireb) Can anyone advise on the nearest decent place (i.e no ladies of the night if that's possible) for a decent beer please. Amazed how much Qatar has changed since the 90's!

Used to go to the Sheraton (Irish Pub) or to the Ramada (the pub-name that I can't pronounce).

Lots of decent hotel bars in Doha, La Cigale, Hilton, SSharq Village, etc.

Do you need membership for this one - someone at work said that they think a lot of bars in Doha ask for membership fees! Is that true?

As with a lot of bars in 4 star and below hotels, take your passport you'll get access, then get your pic taken, 30QR for a years membership. Worth having if you go there regularly.
Happy hour 5-8pm, one third off your bill, live music is typical Filipino fare.
Down to earth people.
If you go say hello to the bald bloke sat on the first table you come to. Top guy, crazy stories.

Krossroads makes everyone get membership, but most bars will let you in with just your passport if you are visiting. They only make you get membership when you get a residency permit.

Most bars take a scan of your passport though.

Agreed with KIX ive only been to the krossroads once and its got a great atmosphere

Also try the crowne plaza. Its got a good happy hour on everything. No music but the clientele is pretty chilled and no ladies of the night.
