how can you even complain about people that want to pack your bags for you...go right ahead, pack my bags, it's not as if I am getting any joy out of doing it myself, or that I am sooo much better at it myself...it's packing bags ffs...so what if they put my shampoo in the same bag as my milk...it's not going to kill me.
Spinneys in Uptown, all the people working there are great, many have been there since it openened about 7 years ago.
I packed my own bags when I lived in Holland, and I will pack my own bags again when I go back. In the meantime, if anyone wants to pack my bags, be my guest. They always keep the eggs seperate by the way.
I tip, depending on what I have it's either a 5 or 10 dhs note, and if I don't have any I will apologize and tell them I will make it up to them next time, which I do. If it's one of the 'old gang guys' I will give 20 dhs, which is still peanuts. And I am a single mum, so it's not like I have loads of money to spare, I just appreciate these guys as they make my life easier.
And if any of the self rightous judgemental lot sees me at the check out, thinking I am some bitch for playing with my phone, so be it. I really don't care.

They don't sell them in our local Choithram's anymore.

Why the hell should I have to let them pack my bags just because someone's decided to employ them to do so. If I want to pack my own bags I'll do so. I've probably saved about 10,000 unnecessary bags being used by bag packers packing everything separately by doing it myself.

It's a bit like putting your own tray full of shit in the bin at a food court.

I seem to be the only person in Doha that does that. The only thing I wouldn't change is someone fueling my car - That's a proper ball ache saved.

Meh, doesn't bother me.

If Dubai does introduce self service pumps, I'll be using them because there will be no queue.

To be completely honest I don't even queue for fuel, My driver takes the car and fuels it in the day.

I am not saying you have to let anybody do anything for you...you have a choice, and having a choice is nice. It's hardly something worth complaining about.

We reuse the bags, we never throw them away, and still we sometimes run out of bags.

Exactly.

I often take reusuable bags and the guys will happily pack those for me. The crazy system of using one bag for each item seems to have passed and I always ask them to 'make bag full' and use the minimum possible.

It's just not hard to be helped and be grateful. I have enough hassles in life that I won't say no to a bit of help from time to time. Besides if they didn't fill bags, what job would them end up doing? Probably something worse than standing in a cool supermarket all day.

There are far more important things to get het about such as the misuse of the apostrophe and putting loo rolls on the wrong way around.

OK OK OK.

I'll let them pack my bags. On one condition.... I can still 'educate' rowdy children with my trolley when shopping?

First course of action is The Hard Stare. I rarely need much more than that...

Where I shop it hasn't.

Maybe you find it helpful, I don't. It's just down to personal choice and where I shop (and this is not just one shop), they're a hindrance. If they were helpful, I would be grateful.

Must admit, I didn't realise I had to get pre-approval of something to complain about before posting here? Maybe we should just agree to disagree on this point.
