I'm only playing. She's enjoying it sort of, interview today and tomorrow but not sure if Dubai is what she wants so we'll see what happens.
Settled in? Yes and No....the apartment is lovely but has 2 English TV channels, both are crap. So I find myself trying to do stuff every night instead of just sitting staring at a wall.
People out here are 90% arseholes and I've never come across such unneccesarily aggressive and stuck up women, even those at my age...
Despite that, I'm loving it thanks!
Can you suggest anywhere else to sit, chill, have beer, smoke shisha and eat?

If Alcohol doesn't have to factor in to it, I'd suggest TGI fridays at Dubai Mall. No pretence no faff just good food and a fantastic view of the fountains at the Burj, I've used it a cpl of times for different date with people and they have loved it due to the view and Company i may add . Or just out the back of the mall you have the souk can't mind the name of it 1 of the restaurants does a nice deal with Champagne and good food at a great price but that's not a 1st date kind of venue. But as others have said Irish village for me is 1 of the best places in Dubai to sit and relax in the winter at night time.
Hope the above helps!

Re: Bar Zar - Madinat?
Went to Madinat.
She liked walking round the 'souk's' (using the term lightly because they are as authentic as a plastic chicken).
Bar Zar was alright, couple of cheeky deals on, sit in front of the pond they've built themselves and look at the Burj.
Cheese filled jalapenos are mind blowing and worth the trip alone.
Did nicely.
Thanks for all the suggestions.

Did you call her bird or ho to her face? actually I know the answer to that as you're not buried up to your neck in the desert so obviously not!

You can wrap palm trees in fairy lights but dogs will still piss on them...

Re: Bar Zar - Madinat?
Might try my luck tonight, I'm going to the Meat Co. with her and some friends so she can't get angry or I'll make her do my ironing and washing for next week.
That reminds me, I need to find the key for her chain to the cooker. Bugger...

So you aren't going to take our advice and get away from the shinier and more shallow parts of Dubai then?
