Dubai is a great place for entertainment and in particular musical entertainment.
However I am at the age where I like to hear (simple) music whilst having a good evenings chinwag whilst having a few drinks. I don't particularly care about the genre of music as I have an eclectic taste, just the volume and atmosphere.

Is there anywhere that has either simple jazz, or acoustic music/singing where you can still talk and have a good social evening. The option of food in the package would be a bonus

I'd say Music Rooms in Bur Dubai but it's pretty loud, always more like a gig.

Loca - went the other week, awesome Mexican food, Pride on tap and music but not deafening (but it's not live, and I think you're after live music).

Used to have jazz/blues nights at Novotal exhibition centre not sure if they still do, used to enjoy it

Its not only you, Victor. I don't have any solutions (but would be pleased to hear some). The other evening at Barasti (I know, I know, but its close to home and I wanted to watch the footie) the only available seats were outside, and those left with a view of the screen all had speakers pointing at them. All ****ing loud, couldn't carry on a conversation. Asked one of the oiks, after sitting down and pointing at the speakers, "Could you turn them down a bit, please?". He got a stool, stood on it, and angled the speakers down a bit so that they were precisely pointing at where I was sitting

Off the top of my head Irish Village, Dubliners, Stables, McGettigans, Double Deckers, Belgian Beer Cafe (at Festival City) all have regular live music, that's not overly loud (or you can sit far enough away) and offer good pub food.

Dubai isn't my area of expertise, however I belive the bar is called Carters, and it's either in or beside the big Pyramid thing.

Was hooker free last time aswell.

Think on Wednesday nights you can go to Vintange next door, smash down their Wine and Cheese night thing for 190(?), then wander into Carters and take advantage of BOGOF cocktails.

I remember pulling a rather more sophisticated bird than the average in Waxy's one early friday PM. We went to the hotel next door (Ascot?) for some Wine where they had a great lounge with a violinist and piano player. Hooker free, nicer clientele and had a good quiet night. Think that's the only 'Quiet' night I have had in Dubai..........

Carter's in Wafi Pyramid.

They have some ongoing offer with standard spirits and certain lagers (Heiniken pints) at Dhs 26. I think Frankie still plays in there some nights. She's good.

There is also live music in The Stables on a Thursday evening. It's just two people so nothing raucous.

As a slight aside, I heard Waxy's was closed, not sure if permanently or for a tidy. Anyone confirm or deny?
