Re: Bali
I'd go more for the place, rather than timescales.
Can I put a tenner on a Med Island?

I hope she does get another holiday soon and that it's fantastic to make up for Bali.

Bali is reputed to be the island of "Eat, Pray, Love."
I take it mission couldn't find a restaurant, shunned the spiritual aura and didn't get laid!....

Re: Bali
New question, I'm told that to take on a long term rental place in Bali, one pays a full year or more in advance, Is that correct for most people on retirement visas? Seems like an issue where one could easily get fleeced.
There's a fair few Aussies that I'm hearing about that have retired there..... So I'm slightly curious, especially as it seems the living costs are that low that one could actually come out well in front compared to living a similar lifestyle in Aus.

Horses for courses. Bali most definitely is a 'cheap as chips' destination for Perthies. When you've paid $18 for a pint, a $1 Bintang is very welcome.
I've traveled a lot through Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam. In my experience, Bali compares very well in the 'cheap as chips' stakes.

20 Bucks for a Pint Of Leffe at the Belgian Beer Cafe in Melbourne, dearest pint I've ever had, At least it was the real deal draught from Belgium. They also had a 3litre bottle of Chimay on their beer menu for 180 bucks....... Yehp Bali is cheap for Aussies thats for sure. Plus it's all relative, seeing as it was a saturday, the waiter serving would have been on 30 bucks+ an hour eh
