backpack

I have been told by my friend that I am going to Thailand with that I am not allowed to take my suitcase with wheels and in fact I need a proper back pack that you can do up around your waist and 'hike' with- not sure where I'll be hiking as thought we were having a nice holiday on the beach, but anyway where can I get one in Dubai- preferably a nice pretty one that is big enough to get a few pairs of shoes etc in.

Re: backpack

Make sure you get one that side swipes anyone in a 2 metre radius of you when you turn around. This is the most important criteria of any backpack

When are you travelling? Spugsy and yours truly will be in Thailand at various times over the next few weeks I believe, not together of course.

I am feeling particularly dim this morning. Are you not allowed a suitcase because it just wouldnt look right or because you walk out of the airport and straight onto sand ??

Enlighten my dimness please

Re: backpack

tockalosh- I too am dim and just doing what I'm told, apparently the back pack is easier as we'll be island hopping, getting dodgy buses etc and the backpack is easier. One of the girls I am going with has been there like a million times so I am taking her word for it. I'm kinda scared shes going to hake me hiking up mountains or something....

Spugsy is your backpack by any chance pretty? and can I borrow it please?

Re: backpack

If you're going to buy one, I second Decathlon. Alternative would be Dragon Mart but you don't want your stuff falling out a big hole where the stitching came apart mid-hop. Even if you're just the person to fix it again :)

I've done Bangkok (twice), (northern) Phuket and Khao Lak in the last month... love the place. Have fun!

You can pick it up when you feed Santi this week.
