That is just very silly indeed.
I have worked for very diverse companies in the UK and I have never met anyone who had a problem with Christmas. Even the very Jewish accountancy practice, with many Muslim and Hindu staff had a Christmas party every year and most people went and had a good time.
Why on earth would anyone be offended by a Christmas Party? It really a cultural practice, not a religious one. Besides, technically the UK is a Christian country, not secular or any other religion, so tough luck to anyone who doesn't like it. Honestly, if you don't like UK cultural practices, bugger off and go and live elsewhere.

I have only ever been to 1 works christmas party. That was with the law firm I worked for last year and it was a very dull affair.
