A very good film, especially the second half...and with a feel good ending.
yeah that was a great film.

Saw the Holmes movie over the holidays. Its one advantage over the fantastic Jeremy Brett versions is that Ritchie's Holmes is physically active, engaging in fights and boxing matches, which was part of the Holmes character in Doyle's books but which was Brett's weakest point.

But otherwise Ritchie's Holmes just doesn't even begin to touch the caliber and even plausibility of the Jeremy Brett versions. Ritchie's movie is fun to watch but it is a Hollywood movie and as with Hollywood movies, very overdone. Holmes' rooms are ridiculous (it'd take Harry Potter type imagination to believe that the interior of Holmes' chambers can fit within the exterior shot of the townhouse). The plot is ludicrous and involved an end scene in which a main character manages to get from Westminster to Tower Bridge in a few seconds.
