BBC 5Live Fighting Talk podcast is quite funny this week, Ashes special with Flintoff hosting. Worth a listen.

We in the true antipodes play an advanced version where the goal is to advance and attack, not be watching our behinds the whole time.
As for the etymology of Pom, you geezers should refer to your own trusted BBC

Re: The Ashes
What is this rugger bugger "Push & Sniff" style game they are playing?

We've had this debate before, so just to be clear on my point: I've met quite a few Aussies, none are good friends or people that I want to spend too long with because I find them quite hard work, arrogant, ignorant and annoying.
Caveat; there are, I'm certain, lots of lovely Aussies around the world. I just haven't met any of them. Well, I might have, but not spent enough time with them to establish that they're worthwhile human beings without a crater size chip on their shoulders.
Caveat 2; I'm well aware that a decent portion of Brits/English are ****ing helmets. Me included, I'm a massive chopper, look at what I wrote above....I just wish Aussies could accept the very same.

I stick to much simpler terms for Aussies; *****.

All I can extrapolate from your argument is that you haven't met anybody softhearted or softheaded enough from Australia to put up with your bullsh*t. Not sure why that must mean every Aussie in your world carries a 'crater-sized chip on their shoulder' - although it's clear that somebody in this equation does

Re: The Ashes
It's OK Scamp - most Aussies, given your self-portrait, would grant your wish and accept you're a massive chopper.

But I've got Kiwi mates, Saffer mates and even some Irish pals. In fact, quite a few Irish and Kiwi ones...I even made friends with an American here, that's commendable. Positively international collection of buddies who can put up with my shit.
Maybe the thing you missed is that I'm yet to meet an Aussie I like, with the caveat that I'm sure there are plenty of lovely ones. I assume you missed that bit before you started saying I'm full of shit, a massive chopper and have a chip on my shoulder.
Extrapolate from that what you want.

I'm so full of shit, you're probably right. Are you Australian?

Re: The Ashes
So by our trusted bbc, and the OED's description is that the Aussies (being the immigrants) are really the poms. Not the brits that are elsewhere in the world.
As you shackle-draggers (thanks Scamp) are the immigrants in an Aboriginal country, you, my friend, is the pom.
So quit whingin'.

Re: The Ashes
Indeed. Also 'antipodes' only refers to someone or something diametrically opposite to yourself. I.e. it is incorrect to refer to yourself as an antipodean, however, it would be correct for you (as an Aussie I assume) to refer to a Brit as one. Obviously this is often incorrectly stated as being for the sole use of Aussies and Kiwis but hey, that's not correct.
(I can't be an Aussie cos Scamp has tolerated me for more than just a few beers).

Re: The Ashes
Anybody who writes off an entire nation of people the way you have must clearly have a chip on their shoulder Scamp. It doesn't take much to imagine how, the minute you discover somebody is Australian, your social interaction changes (perhaps unconsciously) to exhibit your prejudices. All I'm suggesting is that you've never found an Aussie you like because you've never been a person any Aussie could like - why would they when it's so clear you have such antipathy for them?

Re: The Ashes
Aussies and Kiwis are no more racist than any other western country. It exists, for sure, but like any nation of immigrants they are careful these days to at least try and dispel latent beliefs based on race. Unless we're talking about One Nation party members of course....
Nah, when people don't like you on sight even though they can converse with you, look a bit like you and have the same values/belief system as you - it's not because of your passport.
