The usual shops, New Look, H&M, Mango, Splash etc...a huge Homes R Us, a supermarket looks a bit Carrefourish...I'd say about 60% of the shops were open...
Also a foodcourt and a kidszone area...and around June the cinema will open.

How many more of these new places do we really need..

With carrefour et all opening in mirdiff in another year, uptown is already doomed..

but on a positive note, the chippy that was in the bin sougat centre was supposed to be moving to that arabian plaza..

is it there? open? best fish, chips & curry sauce in dubai..

There is also a Bombay Chowpatty, which is brill too. Masala Dosa and Chips :-)
The centre is run by the same people as Lamcy plaza and is, delightfully, somewhat more downmarket that Dubai Mall, MOE etc. Most of the shops are the same as Lamcy.
No crazy touristy bits and bobs just a sound simple place to do some shopping. I like it.

I saw signs for a post office when I was there but didn't actually see it - did anyone else or is it not open yet?

we don't need anymore...but since it's there anyway and it's got a few shops that I like but that weren't that close by before, I will go there from time to time...
I think people who live in this area will still go to Uptown cause it's different from any other shopping area as it's all outside, but as we have seen already, during the hot months it will be deserted...I am surprised that all the shops (apart from Oililly and Aerosoles) are still there actually...

Think the next eighteen months will see a bit of a meltdown for Uptown, yep I'm also surprised that most of the shops are still there, though many probably own the freehold or signed longish leases.
I think the main problem for a lot of the shops at Uptown is that they are pretty small and not particularly well stocked. If people can't get what they want, inevitably they will go elsewhere.
Personally I think Uptown is a good idea in concept, but it needs a far better mix of niche retailers - which I suppose could be said for the wider UAE..

yeah, it basically the same shops where ever you go which is a pity...probably the only unique shop in Uptown is that jewelry shop opposite the Indian/Italian restaurant and you never see anyone in there...and maybe that Ben Sherman or whatever it's called, stupid clothes...
