Anyone here use late model SONY digital cameras? Need software advice.
Got a Sony RX100 camera.
Currently using Sony's Play Memories software to download video and still images to my computer. Wondering if there is something better out there? |

Are you Apple or Windows
Apple iMovies does most of what I want from a variety of cameras (Sony camcorders, Canon EOS DSLRs etc). |

If Windows - no real need to use 'software', just plug into your laptop, it'll display in Explorer as your E, F, G drive etc - just open the appropriate folder and click and drag, or copy/paste.

Was thinkin that maybee there was 3rd party software that provided higher quality file transfer ??
The quality only changes if you convert it. So if you don't want to shrink the file size or anything like that, you can just drag and drop it to where ever you want it stored. |

Whatever you use, it'll be the quality of the device that recorded the stuff.

Propriety software is almost always worse than third party. My suggestion - transfer to laptop (or whatever) then apply software etc. |

What format do you save them on the camera?
JPEG for stills Camera will also shoot in MP4 and various resolutions. I just stuck with the default which is the AVCHD. |
Re: Anyone here use late model SONY digital cameras? Need software advice.
jpeg you can just drag and drop to the computer, which would be best.
For video, I don't know much about AVCHD, but mp4 is top quality for the size and I'd probably use that and just drag and drop it to your computer as well. You only need to flap about and convert the file if you want to create a dvd to play on stand alone players. |
