Default Anyone else sick of Taxi Drivers moaning about short distances?

I don't know about you but I am getting sick to death of these Taxi Drivers in Dubai.

Ok so occasionally I may need to travel a short distance by Taxi. For example if I'm popping round my friends before clubbing and I'm all sprucened up and fresh, I don't wanna be walking in this heat and getting all sweaty before my night of partying!

These guys my be badly paid etc etc, however they are here to provide a service, we are the customers and we pay them to drive end of!

Has anyone else experienced their rudeness and unprofessionalism?

Yes...About a month ago...I even tipped him double the fair amount...The MF said I don't want your pity...
What do you think would've made him happy??? Should I have given him 50dhs and told him to go drive empty for 30 minutes???

Its not just Dubai though is it!
Back home, and probably everywhere taxi drivers get pissed off if you are only going down the road.Mainly because they are missing out on a proper fare while doing one for next to nothing....as for rudeness, taxi drivers are renowned for it!I think it probably stands out more over here because we are so used to people being overly nice everywhere else we go!

In UAE ,I only ever take short rides in cabs-mostly in Abu Dhabi not so much Dubai. Many drivers seem to be Afghani or from Peshwar and they never mumble about the distance.I think maybe every dirham is welcome towards paying off the cab rent and their license fees.Soon as that's done ....they can start earning!

In the UK, the cabbies miff me off bigtime when they expect a mega tip on top of an outrageous 'minimum fare' tariff. Course I tip them but they are the real Victor Meldrews............

TBH, i get more miffed with the cabs that stop with a male passenger and stroppily ask me to get in. Really, a smile goes a long way.. (Just kidding - would never get in!).
