Another UAE justice story

Re: Another UAE justice story
I just feel the government shouldn't be giving pensions to people who don't work for the government (barring the disabled etc) those who can work and choose not to enter into a pension should not expect the government to care for them.
I believe in limited government and limited taxation...if the state is not providing retirement money to nearly everyone it can reduce direct taxation no? Or at the very least use the current pension money it's paying to people to provide more money for the health service and education.

Socialism too far!!
What, because we have state benefits?
I think in like all of these issues there are a number of people who take the preverbial out of the system but I think it is there for good reason and other "Socialist" ideals like the national health service? What you think a private health sector is a good thing? It will happen gradually over the next 20 years I am sure, but personally I think it is a positive humanitarian state benefit, having accessable health cover... The way it will go wil lbe to create a system which unless you are rich then you are screwed...
On our Socialist policies in the UK - Lets think anything we had which was privatised recently, hmm, like the Railways, the tax payer still props up the whole system which was sold off in some random way in the 90's so the banks own the rollnig stock, the private sector own the tracks, oh no they dont as they messed that up and private co's own the stations, dont get me started on who sold it off and who did well out of it...
Hmm, Privatisation/Capitalism - Has it worked? Do we need regulation to keep human beings in check... We need a mix of both Social istic and capitalistic policies as left ungaurded and unregulated people get carried away with their own self importance....

I am very much pro-health service - no excuse not to have at least subsidised health care in rich modern countries. I am not for giving hard working tax payers money to people who can't be bothered to work. I am not for a system that by it's own admission is open to massive abuse and fraud. I don't think foreigners who have made no contribution to the country should have access to anything beyond emergency medical care and soup kitchens.
It's one thing to look after the sick, the disabled and those who are genuinely down on their luck...it's another to pay for teenagers to have babies or young healthy people who are too high nosed to go and do a bit of manual labour or sit on a supermarket check-out counter though.
So that's what I mean by socialism too far.
