Another Dubai own goal and The Sun pounces...
"A BRIT was last night facing six months in jail in Dubai after being accused of "flicking the finger" at an Arab."

Given the propensity for digital nasal cleansing while driving out here, I'd have thought that flicking--rather than giving--the finger would be a pretty common occurrence. And I must admit that the headline to the right of the story in the Sun (Sex-swap killer to wed lesbian) holds the promise of a better story...

An even worse story I read somewhere was the one about UAE banks now being able to notify Police on-line about bounced cheques. Imagine the queues at the jail toilets this summer.

Eh? Nothing to do with me.
The man in question shuld have known better, but again, where is the witness? The punishment is disproportionate to the 'crime', but I'm all for it it if keeps Sun readers away.

Well I would prefer someone giving me a V sign than what I witnessed today whilst stuck in traffic..A man with his window down was happily sat raking his nose, sticking his hand out of the car window, rolling it and then flicking it on the floor, all in full view of everyone waiting at the traffic lights.

I remember my parent's advice and the general consensus amongst expats when living in Abu Dhabi, don't cross a local, they most always win.
