Is Andy Murray British or Scottish?

As Wimbledon starts shortly, this is topical. We all know that according to the London-centric press that it will depend on how well he does, but you get cast your vote here:

Scottish first
British second...
European third if you must....

If some asks me if I'm British I normally answer something like - "yes, well Scottish, but yes"... I've no issue with being both, but if asked where are you from - I'll 100% answer Scotland...

It's such a non-story this one.... a media construct. If he wins Wimbledon or not, he'll still be Scottish an British. Big deal.

Anyway most of his training in youth years was in Spain I believe 'cos Scottish / British coaches and facilities were shit.

Of course it's a media construct, but amusing nonetheless :)

He is Scottish!

On a personal note, I will never be British or European (Spit), I am English!

I had it pegged the other way round. Obvoiusly he belongs to Great Britain but if he wins hes exclusively Scottish. For gods sake, give them Gordon Brown and send em home with 50p.

I wish I could remember the name of the sprinter who said:

If you win, you're English
If you're second or third, you're British
If you're last, you're West Indian
If you cheat, you're black

Yeah, I've been out of Britain for 16 years so it's a least that old. Still funny though.

Grew up in the south of England and the States.

What does that make me?

1/4 American? Americans are multi-ethnic so you'll need to be a bit more specific before we can typecast you.

That said if you don't speak with one of the recognised accents of the British Isles you'll have trouble convincing anyone you are English, Scottish or Irish or whatever you're trying to be...
