AD really does need some new and interesting watering holes. Currently most are just holes, or fairly charmless.

I don't think I have a favourite--its more a case of least unfavoured. I wish they had somewhere like Rick's Bar Americaine...

You and your coopers - are you getting free beers for bringing in the punters? More plugs than a plumbers shop on your posts...

I hope the meet goes well guys and if you are all talking to each other in September would be keen to get involved in some social drinks.

Going to Hemmingways is some concession for me as I only ever go to the Ally Pally as it's a 5 min walk from home.

Never been to ally pally either, its a guys bar isnt it? Do any women go in there even, well apart from those type of women. Hemys is kinda safe, although those um ladies are starting to frequent there these days also

Yeah I noticed a few more 'ladies' in there last time I was in.
Still quite like the place though. Another fav of mine is 3rd Avenue and the food there is good.
The Jazz club used to be fantastic but the bands changed and last time I was in (about 3weeks ago) they were playing chart music!
Coopers is ok apart from the weekend when it is full of 15 and 16 yr olds and Commander :p

The, er, few times I've been there I don't think I've ever seen any ladies other than working girls. Last coupla of times I've been there the girls have kept their distance--I eventually found out it was coz they thought I looked like a local or a Lebo. That made me feel really mucking fiserable.

I couldn't imagine anything much LESS like Rick's. Been to Coopers twice, first time it was frigging freezing. THere wasn't much atmosphere, but it was midweek. I can imagine it could be ok at the weekend--I guess it depends so much on who you're with. Maybe if I wore spandex...

I'd love to have been there for curiousity's sake. Have only met Benzonar and Weescot and it would have been fun. Hemingway's is a hole but it might at least be busy.

Look forward to reading all about it.
