Thanks for the update - I think it was clear from the way it was being reported from the start that there were suspicions but police/reporters didn't want to voice them explicitly, presumably for fear of seeming callous.

Could it be a form of Munchausen's Syndrome?

So, if arrests were made, how did they make them if they couldn't identify the attacker wearing a niqab?

Your arguments are that wearing a veil prevents the police from id potenti suspects. Clearly proven to be incorrect.

Clearly, seeing the face isn't crucial in this day and age to catch a criminal.

The triangulation method to pinpoint a person's location the mobile signal is becoming more common.

Also, I think the title that a practising Muslim woman who wears a veil in East London commited this atrocious crime should be changed and some posters should eat some humble pie.

Lift the veil from your mind folks.

It was the woman attacked who said it was a woman wearing a Niqab numpty.

And you answered your own question ref the 1st paragraph...............Do you think if a robber/rapist general bad boy/girl wears a balaclava or tights on their face the police are fecked?

People here were making a big hoo ha about the need for the police to identify all members of the public and were calling for a small piece of cloth to be banned when out and about...when the coppers have now caught the criminals behind this.

The solution is simple. Make it a requirement of residents of the UK to subscribe to the Westmisnter Confession of Faith or to the 39 Articles of the Church of England !!!

I think you need to re read the thread amigo. I think there was issues that hoodies and balaclavas are banned and also people have escaped the country dressed as females. I think it was a reasoned debate.

Back in 2008, a female McCain campaign volunteer claimed an Obama supporter attacked her and carved a B on her cheek. It emerged soon after that she had carved the B herself and made the whole thing up. Hilariously the B was a mirror image B, one aspect of the alleged crime that made investigators suspect she made it up.

Yup definitely special. No need for criminal conviction just a lengthy period in an institution for the severely disturbed

This crime/non crime doesn't change the argument against the Burqa. As you can see, I mentioned that it may not be a Muslim early on. As peope are not allowed to go about with their face covered , why should Muslims get special dispensation?

It is complete bullocks that people use religion to get special favours/exemption from laws etc.. Burqa is 1 example, Halal/Kosher is another.

"A woman has been charged" does not mean "Someone has been found guilty".

Just goes to show all the anti burqa brigades who were desperately hoping it'd be a Muslim woman can look for the next burqah story...good luck
