People responsible would be tried and sentenced.

There'd be a pretty big uprising in the US I rekon... do Americans trust their government at all anyway? Their democracy now seems like hypocritical bullcrap compared to what their constitution was trying to achieve.

sorry, but maybe i'm a bit too cynical to have such hope. if it were to be revealed that something like 9/11 was a US-on-US conspiracy, only one person would be identified, vilified and then executed. think about what happened with the oklahoma bombings and McVeigh. the US spent the first couple of weeks failing to comprehend that the bombing could be domestic terrorism. then the investigation sidelined pretty much anyone that assisted him with the intent of making him the poster-boy of the whole mess. the US ain't too good on the whole 'big picture' conspiracy theories, they just like to make it simple. (one person did this... therefore it's OBL who's the focal point, not extermists in general)

remember, attacking the US democratic structure, (or, more accurately, pointing out the patently obvious hypocrasy that it is) is kind of like telling someone that the moon is made of cheese or that the sky is tartan. when you want to believe in something so badly, no amount of evidence will convince someone otherwise.

right now, the US is on the right path to becoming somewhere tollerable again. they've got an extraordinary amount of damage to clean-up (8 years of moronic ignorance) but at least it appears to be moving in the right direction. i believe some sort of conspiracy/witch hunt would be deterimental to that process right now. wait until Obama's finished his first term, if he gets re-elected, absolutely, go hunting for the bagman, but nto now.

Oh gee... oops. Why would the word "explosives go off" even enter into your brain during such a speech?????

EDIT: UNLESS it was taken out of context...

Interesting.

Notice how he says "he has a small lifestyle" and "this is for people with money and all that stuff" and that this event "is for them".

ok, i'll bite...

so, let's just say we go in for the whole WTC = conspiracy bit; where, in your mind, does this leave us? what's you're theory on who perpetrated/planned/financed it and why? without having some sort of hypothesis or position of questioning, highlighting speech abberations becomes just that.

In terms of a conspiracy, there are a few potential contenders for a start:
The US arms Industry
The US Oil Industry
The US Christian nut jobs

for a plan such as it was to work, required quite a significant amount of organization, intelligence and finance, not to mention an incredible level of trust/fear that no single member of the organization would defect or betray it. the history of US whistleblowers is long and colorful (watergate, lewinsky, & enron(i think) are just the most immediate ones that spring to mind). if the US culture is such that it is can foster the (arguable) sense of decency that led to this kind of whistleblowing, surely mass murder would have to prick the consciences of just a few of those involved? i'm more inclined to believe in a religiously-orientated conspiracy as there is a level of 'unquestionable dogma' involved such that a persons willingness to betray is balanced with the 'eternal wrath of god', thus reducing the risk of someone defecting.

so, perhaps the right-wing christian nut jobs hell bent on another crusade? not beyond the realms of the hypothetical...

Why would the US Oil Industry want to make the US population hate the world's biggest oil producing nations? It doesn't really make sense. Surely those with the biggest motivational cause are the Zionists who need the continued support of the USA in their fight against the Arab nations for their very survival.

But that wouldn't be the objective..

Attack Iraq, Iran, go for control of its oil, and who knows where next, Saudi?

Oh its fantastical, but thats the beauty of conspiracy theories..
