Default 54,000 Arrivals Fail The Iris Scan

Sorry to appear stupid but how many countries actually use iris scan records on their passports? It seems crazy that so many people are turned back.

How do you "fail" an iris scan??

Arriving passenger: "What's the problem, officer?"
Customs official: "It's those eyes, sir. Admit it - they're not your own eyes, are they, sir..............?"

pmsl!

Gosh, and did it never occur to them that it may be a faulty scanner? Oh noes! It's completely foolproof! 54,000 people must be wrong!

Anyhow, DNA matches?! That'll be one [more] reason I'll happily never set foot in Dubai again.

Divide the number of iris scan ‘failures’ by the number of ‘expatriate’ workers here. You will then arrive at a more understandable figure.
A friend of mine was recruiting in the sub-continent. He decided to complement the services of his recruitment agency with his own interviewing techniques.
After conducting sundry ‘trade tests’ he identified a number of ‘qualified’ personnel, all of whom he wished to employ.
He mentioned to his recruitment agent that, ‘though excellent and skilled operatives, those he had chosen seemed to have difficulty in completing the employment application form. His agent informed him that it was not the difficulty in completing the form that was the problem. The problem was the fact that the ‘applicant’ could not remember the name of the applicant on whose behalf they had taken the trade test.

I have absolutely no idea why this thread was moved from the Middle East Forum to here. Isn't immigration to Dubai a Middle East issue?
