Default 5* Beach Hotels at 97% Occupancy????

Just how on earth do they expect us to believe these kinda numbers....

Hotel Occupancy Still On Increase?!?!?!?!?

Frankly, I am amazed that any self-respecting newspaper will still print and number that comes out of DM's hallowed halls....

If the figures are indeed remotely accurate, it's probably because the nightly rates have fallen by at least 30% instead.

It's absolutely possible, what they do is they close a few wings down, for spring cleaning, so those room will not be counted in the occupancy levels. That and indeed the lower roomrates make the high occupancy

went to aquaventure yesterday, and they have different wrist bands for whether you were hotel guests or day visitors etc, i would say that 98% were staying at the hotel, a lot were obviously from the GCC but there were quite a few europeans as well.

Utter nonsense. No hotel ever has 97% occupancy. They always have a 5-10% of rooms empty. Some for refurbs etc, others set aside in case required unexpectedly. For example Jumeirah & Jebel Ali groups always have at least 15% unoccupied.

At the prices so many are still charging, I can believe that somewhere like Novotel DCC is full, as it is perfectly pleasant and well priced. Jumeirah's rates are a joke.

Mrs Inse (ex-Jumeira employee) was speaking to a friend there in reservations yesterday and she was complaining that they are too busy

Was talking to a friend who works at Atlantis, she said they are almost full. But the majority of rooms are heavily discounted.
The problem they have is the people staying there aren't using the hotel restaurants/bars.
