although there was nearly a big accident approaching the fly over coming from al ain road onto 30th this morning, because they have taken one lane away, not too difficult to figure out, but of course you get all the idiots speeding along the lane that is slowing disappearing, well they couldnt obviously see all the signs and the cones etc etc as they were going so fast and wonder why there is so much rubber left on the road now.

This happens anyway - plus your visa sponsor gets a message every time you leave and enter the UAE. As I discovered when I threw a sickkie and went diving in Muscat..... but I wasn't the only one, so got away with it.

They're high def cameras to pick up mobile phone use while driving and kiddies who aren't strapped in to childseats etc. Not sure if they're switched on yet though...

I've heard this before (seen argument) on expat woman. Sometimes husband gets text or the company PRO - is this always the case? Had some pretty adamant housfraus saying that it DEFINITELY didn't happen to them or their husbands. Is this UAE wide?

Its a service that is provided by Immigration, so if your company has asked for this service, then yes, every time an employee leaves and re enters a text message is sent

Yep - immigration and border control is a soverign state responsibility therefore comes under federal law (i.e. not Emirate specific)and implemented using the same methods at all border crossings/immigration desks. the only exception I know is at Dibba - where you don't clear immigration. I don't know the exact technology used, but I think the sponsor notification is done automatically when your passport bimoetric data is swiped by the immigration officer.

sounds like very like the same use of compact handbag mirror. An essential piece of kit carried by most Scottish women for when they meet unsuspecting kilted boys ...
